On Thursday evening after the wine and cheese reception is
a "flashlight sale" auction of the winners of the products
contests, of the Haitian goat art and of the art submitted for
the "Get A Goat" art contest. It is an excellent opportunity
to obtain unique goat art found no where else!
This beautiful piece of artwork was done by a local Haitian
artist - beautiful!

RAFFLE
ITEM
18' X 40' Clearspan building

The Raffle will be held at the Banquet &
Ball on Friday evening. You do not need to be present to
win, but the building must be removed by the end of Sunday (it
weighs roughly 950 lbs.).

raffle item are $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00. Tickets are
available from MDGS Board members as well as at the
Registration Booth at the Convention**


Quilt Raffle
The quilt is a double bed size, or covers the top and 6 "
down the size of a queen size mattress. Tickets are
$5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. Need not be present to
win. The pictures were taken before being quilted and bound,
but the quilting is spectacular! Also the colors are
deeper, not really yellow and orange, but gold and rust, and
greens.

GET-A-GOAT
ART CONTEST
**ENTRY
FORM**
The Michigan Dairy Goat Society, as Hosts
of the American Dairy Goat Association 2011 National
Convention, is sponsoring an exciting “Get Your Goat” Art
Contest. Your chance to “GET” these one of a kind,
spectacular pieces of GOAT ART will happen at the
“Flashlight Sale” auction on
Thursday, October 20, 2011 immediately following the Wine and
Cheese Reception being held at the ADGA Annual
Meeting.
Rules for the “Get Your Goat” Art Contest
are as follows:
There are five categories:
(1) a two-dimensional wooden goat
(either full body or head).
Goat
figure must be cut from wood that is no less than ˝” or more
than 1” thick.
Plywood is acceptable.
Minimum size 12”' x 12”
Maximum size 48” x 48”
(2) a canvas painting, sketch,
drawing, or mixed media.
Sketches or
drawings must be on acid free paper.
Minimum size 5” x 7”
Maximum size 48” x 48”
(3) a sculpture or figurine
,
No size restrictions
(4) an item or object painted,
carved, or wood burned with a goat theme
; No
size restrictions
5) an item of jewelry that contains
a goat theme
Entries must be received at the ADGA registration desk in the
Crowne Plaza
Hotel no later than 5:00pm.,
Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
All
entries become the property of the MDGS host committee and
will
be auctioned off at the Flashlight Sale
on Thursday, October 20, 2011.
Independent Judges will choose the winners.
Winners in each category will receive $100 for First place,
$50 for Second
Place, $25 for Third Place.
A
Best of Show ($500) and Reserve ($250) will be chosen from the
winners of the five categories.
In
cases where less than 4 entries are received for a category,
if an entry is not deemed suitable for
competition, it will not be considered for
monetary award.
NOTE: Please note that non-artists made the rules. We
now know that there are better things than canvas available to
paint on. If the article of art is on a quality
acceptable art media their entry will gladly be accepted.
All
proceeds go to the Scholarship Fund.
