'Started by
the Bice Family to provide goat milk for the family and
local community, Redwood Hill Farm has been making
delicious, natural goat milk cheese, yogurt and kefir
since 1968. Protecting open space and the environment has
long been at the forefront of the business and the farm
and creamery are now 100% powered by solar.
The breeding program emphasizes 'milkability with
showability' with top ten does, national champions and
Premier
Breeder of Show at the 2010 National Show.'

Page & Pedersen designs,
manufactures, sells and supports innovative,
instrument-based testing systems for the dairy and
beverage industries. Our LactiCheck Milk Analyzer for
milk composition analysis provides benefits to enterprises
throughout the dairy supply chain.
Dairy farmers find the
LactiCheck helpful in improving profitability for their
operations! Some areas where the LactiCheck can open
opportunities for greater profitability include:
1. Optimize your feeding
costs. Supplemental feed is one of the biggest budget
items. In order to ensure that your costs are positively
impacting the composition of your herd, you can now
monitor the butterfat and protein to make necessary
adjustment in a timely manner.
2. Longer days in milk.
By monitoring at risk animals for metabolic disorders,
earlier medical intervention can be implemented. Earlier
intervention results in faster recovery, meaning more days
in milk!
3. Track Genetics.
More detailed profiles of breeding animals give you a more
in-depth profile of the overall contribution (i.e. not
only yield but also butterfat and protein profiles on a
daily or weekly basis). This information is especially
important when breeding programs are focused on improving
the fat and protein composition of your milk.
Other areas that the
LactiCheck has proven of help to dairy farmers including
monitoring milk payments from processors, assisting herd
managers and veterinarians in the hospital barn and
screening for seasonality influences to optimize herd
management decisions.
