We at the University of California, Davis are thrilled to present our first ADGA Spotlight Sale Consignment. As with most of the goats in the UC Davis herd, Kia is the result of a collaborative effort by many Oberhasli breeders on the West Coast. Her story starts with White-Haven Nasake, a doe donated to our program by Jeanne White of White Haven Oberhasli. A breeding to Clovertop's Ecktorsketch Kalvin, donated by Lorrie Echols, produced California Kalvin Special K, Kia's dam. In past years, Kay has been bred to GCH FDF Pleasant Fields BSC Serano, breedings donated by Julie Bonini of Heathero Farms Oberhasli. Those matings have produced bucks that have gone to Clovertop Dairy and to Twila Woehl of South Dakota. This year we obtained a donation of Oberhasli semen from Jeanne White  (White Haven) and Carolyn Hoeker (Udderly Crazy), and our veterinarian (Dr. Joan Dean Rowe) inseminated the doe...the result is California Varekai Kia. As you can see, she is a special doe with a special history. We think of our goats and our herd as a collaboration between our facility and breeders throughout the US, and we are continually grateful for the support and encouragement that we receive. A bid on California Varekai Kia is a bid to support the UC Davis Goat Teaching and Research Facility.
